The Afro Cuban and Brazilian drumming is different altogether as both bear their own separate character and specific beat. When the song is Latin then some precise type of rhythm needs to be planned. Brazilian music is very old and bears a history of more than two hundred years at the time when it was under the rule of Portuguese people. There were a large number of slaves and the government managed them by making the rules of King and Queens for every tribe. Maracatu is the name given to the ceremonies those are conducted during the appointing of the new monarch.

The Kings and Queens got removed along with the slavery and Maracatu became as the dance for the celebrations in the street. Even today the Brazilian music is performed on the lines of Maracatu. Big drums, colorful outfits, and the dancers they altogether give the feeling of joy and festivity.

Samba is the most popular music form in Brazil. The dance has so many forms like- samba enredo, samba de roda, samba rural, and samba baiana etc. The word Samba is taken from ‘Semba’ which is the fertility dance in West Africa and it means the dance of the bellybutton.
